Main Key Words

Key Words: These are some important key words that will be used throughout the project and are important to remember. Avante Garde: This gives the audience the impression that this is the latest product that if they get, will be ahead of everyone else. It is the latest model of said product meaning that no one will have it yet, so by getting it you are one step ahead of people around you. Weasel words: This suggests a positive outcome of using the product without making any actual promises, such as " A dish soap that leaves dishes  virtually  spotless ." The word "virtually" tells us that there is no guarantee that this product will 100% do what it says it will, which warned the audience before they think about purchasing the product. Camera Movement

Tuesday 16th October 2018: Functions of a camera movement: Zoom into something Switch between 2 characters Follow the action of a scene Reveal information about a shot Find out more about surroundings  Continuous shots Take us on a journey Disorientate viewer Add realism to scenes Camera Movement: potential to function in different ways reveal dramatic information by enlarging audiences field of view narrow/focus attention on significant objects or characters Motivated Camera Movement: Camera moves when prompted by characters/events in films, e.g. follows a moving character. Here is an example of a motivated shot from Raiders of the Lost Arc In this scene, you can clearly see how the camera switches between the man, the shots and the woman, and then back again. It follows the character's every move, thus making it a motivated movement. Unmotivated Camera Movement: A camera movement that doesn't match what's happening in the scene, such a

Opening sequence

Image
Thursday 4th October 2018: Opening Sequence: Back to the future- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3isQI0nXQRE   Back to the future is a film made in 1985 which is a fantasy science film about Marty McFly and Doc Brown, who travel back to the future for various reasons that become apparent throughout the film. This is the first opening sequence that I looked at when planning my own sequence as it's a film I've watched many times and enjoy very much.  In this opening sequence, there is no music and the only sound to start with is many different clocks ticking. The camera is showing different areas of someones house but it isn't clear who's it is, but we can assume that it's the house of an inventor as there are different contraptions there, such as a machine to feed the dog and turn on the TV, around the house that are all set off by the clocks.  The breakfast Club- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tUN-8TvevGU

Editing Short Cuts

Friday 28th September 2018: Short cuts: space bar- play/pause arrow keys- forward/backwards z-undo x- c-cut/razor v-arrow +- -zoom in and out j-reverse k-play l-forward I/o- in and out backslash backspace-delete This is a screenshot of the premier pro editing scene we we're using in todays lesson. We looked at shortcuts to make things easier for us when we come to edit properly in the future, and we looked specifically today at cutting and importing footage. This is a screen grab of the timeline I was using. It shows both the audio and footage, as well as part of some of the clips that I used to make up the video. Some shortcuts that I use were: Space bar to play/pause C to cut the footage/audio V to use the select tool Backspace to delete Left and right arrows to move frames These all made it a lot easier to edit the footage I had as I didn't have to go round looking for the right button on the screen.

Audience Demographics

Image
Friday 21st September 2018: Following on from our last lesson with Luke, we looked at audience demographics today and how it dictates who looks at a piece of media and why. A way of categorising advertising to audiences is through the use of demographics, which includes: Age Gender Education Class Household size/homeowner Marital status Occupation and income Looking at the film Django Unchained that I did an analysis on  here , I have thought more about the audience and who they may be. The poster indicates that this film would attract people over the age of 15, as thats what its been age rated as, and probably a more male dominated audience as its portrayed as a violent film which usually attracts more males than females. Poster Creation

Image
Thursday 20th September 2018: Today in Tony's lesson, we were given a task to create a poster of our choosing to test our research/editing skills. I decided to make a poster on the Broadway show "Hamilton" as it's something I have a lot of interest in and I think making a poster for it could be interesting. This is the official poster for "Hamilton", it shows the iconic star with Hamilton on top as a silhouette and a gold-ish painted background. Although it's simple, I like the colours used and how it transitions into becoming nearly black. This could indicate how the show starts quite lighthearted and fun, and turns depressing and sad towards the second act of the show. The way that Hamilton is standing also shows he's strong and confident, which is clearly shown throughout the songs and helps the audience to see what kind of person he was/is in the show. The bold lettering clearly stands out and although is simple, I like how all the co
